After analyzing data from the Dallas Heart Research Center, scientists drew attention to the levels of troponins in the blood in 1,700 men and women. It turned out that the increased level of troponins was in those people who spent 9-10 hours or more in a sitting position daily.

The link between sedentary lifestyles and troponin levels persisted even after researchers cut off factors for age, gender, body mass index, and genetic inheritance.
It is not yet clear exactly how a sedentary lifestyle injures the heart muscle.
Perhaps this is how it goes. A sedentary lifestyle is linked to obesity, insulin resistance, and fatty deposits in the heart, which can damage heart cells, says Dr. James de Lemos, a cardiologist and professor at the University of Texas.

One way or another, while scientists figure out the reason why a sedentary lifestyle negatively affects the work of the heart, we need to not waste time and try to spend more time in a state of physical activity.
