Nutritionists of various directions agree that vegetables and fruits grown in the "native" climatic zone are most useful for the body. For centuries, our ancestors built their diet on the same turnips and buckwheat porridge - knowledge about their benefits is literally at the genetic level. But the basis of the daily diet should still be products familiar from childhood. Another argument in their favor: the path from the garden to the store counter for domestic products is usually several times shorter than for overseas delicacies.

In most cases, vegetables and fruits brought from abroad are picked not fully ripe (so as not to spoil on the road), then a long transportation plus lying on the counter of the supermarket. Both the aristocratic guest artichoke and unpretentious Jerusalem artichoke are extremely useful for those who have a predisposition to diabetes mellitus: these vegetables contain an analogue of starch inulin. However, there is one "but": artichokes are eaten after heat treatment, during which most of the nutrients are destroyed.
