There is very little time left before Easter. The editors of "Edinstvennoy" decided to figure out what must be in the Easter basket, and what to take with you to church is categorically impossible.
In 2017, Easter falls on April 16th. It is believed that the holiday begins on Saturday evenings: from 11 to 7 in the morning, believers will be able to consecrate Easter cakes, eggs and other products in the church. It is important to remember that not everything can be put into the Easter basket.
What should be in an Easter basket
The Easter basket must contain the attributes of Easter: Easter cakes, colored eggs, salt and Cahors. All of these products have a symbolic meaning. So, cake is a symbol of the body of Jesus Christ, eggs are a symbol of the fact that Jesus conquered death, salt is the communion of God with believers, Cahors is the blood of Christ with which he saved people.
In addition, you can put sausage or boiled pork, cheese, butter, cottage cheese, cottage cheese pies and horseradish in the basket. Don't forget to put down the church candles as well.
Interesting:dairy products among the Slavs were considered symbols of success and wealth, but meat symbolized the continuation of the family. Our ancestors believed that if the Easter basket contains all these products, the next year will be successful, both in public affairs and in personal life.
What is forbidden to put in an Easter basket
On Easter, it is strictly forbidden to bring blood sausage, alcohol (except for Cahors), money and any other items to the church for consecration. The priests say that if you put any of the above in an Easter basket, it will be considered a great sin.
It is not advised to add vegetables and fruits to the Easter basket. It is believed that there are other festivals for the consecration of these products. However, if you choose to put them down, it will not be considered a sin.
